Walkers launches recycling scheme after pressure from campaigners

Following the successful #PacketInWalkers campaign by 38 Degrees, supported by 89up, Walkers today announced the details of their crisp packet recycling scheme.

Following the successful #PacketInWalkers campaign by 38 Degrees, supported by 89up, Walkers today announced the details of their crisp packet recycling scheme. The scheme will see collection points set up across the UK. Used packets will be sent to recycling company TerraCycle to be cleaned and shredded into plastic pellets, used to make items such as watering cans or public benches.

89up secured the petition starter Geraint Ashcroft a feature on BBC television’s The One Show, as well as features in international media. Over 330,000 members of 38 Degrees who signed the petition, forcing Walkers to change its policy on recycling some of the 11 million packets the crisp giant produces every day.
