Who are you?

Ready to apply? ->

We are seeking a highly organised and technically astute Account Director to join our Web (digital products) team.

As the primary operational engine behind our key web accounts, you will lead day-to-day client relationships and own the end-to-end delivery of complex digital projects from discovery through to QA, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. You will translate strategic organisational goals into clear technical briefs, manage budgets and resourcing, and ensure project scope and quality remain tightly controlled.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Experience (and COO), you will work in tandem with our Lead Developer and Head of Design, co-leading sprint planning, managing capacity, and aligning technical execution with client expectations.

Ideally, you bring solid experience as a Senior Account Manager or Account Director within a digital agency setting, with a proven track record of delivering complex web builds (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) on time and on budget. You combine sharp commercial awareness and strong project governance with a genuine passion for purpose-led campaigns.

Key responsibilities

Client & account management

  • Act as the lead day-to-day contact for key digital and web clients, building strong, trusted relationships.
  • Understand clients' organisational goals and translate them into clear, effective digital strategies and technical briefs.
  • Proactively manage client expectations regarding timelines, budgets, and technical constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for organic growth within existing accounts and support the Senior Account Director in pitching for new work.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and workshops (e.g., discovery sessions, sprint reviews).

Technical project management

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of web builds, digital campaigns, and product development projects.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Work closely with developers, designers, and UX specialists to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and executed.
  • Manage project scope tightly, identifying and addressing scope creep early and negotiating change requests.
Oversee the QA process, ensuring deliverables meet technical specifications, accessibility standards, and client requirements before release.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of web technologies, CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal and WordPress), UX principles, and SEO best practices to effectively guide projects.
  • Co-lead sprint planning sessions with Lead Developer

Commercial & operational responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets, track profitability, and ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Coordinate resourcing for your projects, liaising with technical and design leads to ensure adequate capacity.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, statements of work (SOWs), and technical proposals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Web team's delivery processes and project management tools.
  • Line manage and mentor junior team members (Account Managers/Executives) as required.

Required Experience

  • Solid experience as a Senior Account Manager or Account Director within a digital agency, specifically managing web builds and technical projects.
  • Proven ability to manage the full digital project lifecycle (Discovery, UX/UI, Development, QA, Launch, Maintenance).
  • Strong technical understanding; you must be comfortable discussing CMS functionality, basic web architecture, and digital best practices with developers and clients.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, SOWs, and profitability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for social impact, campaigning, and purpose-led organisations.

Bonus points

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, or Productive.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience working on campaigns for charities or NGOs.
  • Experience with expanding use of AI within an agency environment, both internally (e.g. process development, automation, agents) and for clients (e.g. GEO optimisation, AI chat bots)
  • Experience working with CRM integrations and management
