Over 500 people gathered in Clerkenwell, the historic home of political dissent, to consider, critique and celebrate the state of UK rights and freedoms. Featuring prominent commentators Paul Mason, Zoe Williams, Suzanne Moore and human rights barristers from Doughty Street Chambers, including Sir Keir Starmer QC MP, the festival celebrated ancient and recent hard-won freedoms and attracted coverage from regional and national press.

Sashy Nathan, Director of Advocacy said:

“We were honoured to be commissioned by Free Word to celebrate this important 800th anniversary of a key moment of our history. Combining the talents of partner organisations such as Apples & Snakes, ARTICLE 19, openDemocracy, Speaking Volumes, the Open Rights Group and many others, we provided the platform for their great work to be showcased to the public.”
