The client

38 Degrees:  is a community of more than a million people who take small actions on issues they care about, a movement for a better Britain for everyone who calls our country home.

The challenge

One in four people in Britain have been affected by sewage in their local rivers or seas and stomach-turning reports from around the country offer a glimpse into the scale of the crisis - from 57 triathlon contestants falling ill in Sunderland to the NHS nurse who contracted hepatitis from swimming in sewage-infested seas.

The solution

Let's talk ->

38Degrees commissioned 89up to build WheresmyPoo.com, a mobilisation website that allowed people to explore the sewage overflows into public waters in their local area.

We scraped and manipulated several sets of publically available data and build a postcode lookup function that then mapped the data to a dynamically displayed map.

The site then channeled people through to the 38 Degrees petition which called on several UK government bodies to scrap bonuses for CEOS of water companies who pollute our waterways.
