The client
Global Commons Alliance: is a coalition of scientists, philanthropists, civil society groups, businesses and innovators, enabling collective action to safeguard the global commons.
The brief
89up were asked by the Global Commons Alliance and PIK to design the website for the Planetary Health Check, the new global reference point for Planetary Boundaries Science. The website needed to reflect the core findings of the associated 2024 Planetary Health Check report, but also set the foundations that could grow to become an ongoing reference point for policymakers, business leaders and media.
The solution
89up created a brand identity and design language that echoes the ambition of the project to grow into a monitoring point for live data on planetary boundaries. We developed a 3D-effect dashboard aesthetic that underlines both the urgency of the topic, and the robust scientific analysis that stands behind it.
However our focus was also on ease of navigation and simplicity of language in order to remain highly accessible to non-expert audiences. 89up distilled a large amount of scientific research and data in order to accurately reflect the science behind the final product.
The result
Launched in September 2024, this website is already a catalyst for growth in global scientific collaboration, and civil society partnership.
