89up named Boutique Agency of the Year at PRMoment awards

A note from 89up CEO Mike Harris

Mike Harris

I’m delighted that 89up has won Boutique Agency of the Year at the PRMoment Awards!

In a crowded field against many of Europe’s top agencies, we stood out. We’d like to send massive thanks from the whole team to our amazing clients who have made our success possible.

89up was founded with a clear mission: to create a powerful integrated communications agency for the world’s most important causes. I recently had lunch with Andrei Sannikov, a former presidential candidate in Belarus who became a political prisoner, and who I campaigned to free from jail.

It was this experience of using PR to fight dictatorships in Belarus and Azerbaijan that led to 89up being founded, as an agency for causes that change the world.

Since those beginnings in 2014, 89up has worked on Oscar-winning films, campaigned for a free press at home and abroad, supported an incredible global challenge to change the lives of people with lower-limb paralysis through the use of intelligent assistive technologies, and worked with campaigners to get a major crisp manufacturer to change its recycling policy.

Our team is made up of big agency players, journalists, data and digital innovators and production geniuses, giving non-profits and commercial cause clients a big agency experience with boutique agency dedication.

As a small agency, 89up punches above its weight, both in winning big client accounts and in its impact in the world. Not content with being a first in class agency for PR, social and digital, 89up’s team have spent time on causes they care about through our in-house think tank. By challenging the use of communications by foreign powers to sow discord in our democracy and working closely with Parliament’s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee to give expert witness regarding the use of PR techniques and technologies to promote ‘Fake News’, 89up is ensuring that the public itself can trust and have faith in our institutions, press and media platforms.

We will soon be marking our fifth anniversary. We hope you will celebrate with us.
