We’re looking for someone with agency experience, excellent media instincts and a proven ability to secure high-quality coverage. This role will suit someone who is proactive, curious and commercially aware, with excellent media relations skills and the confidence to operate across UK and international markets.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 3+ years experience in media relations with a strong agency background and proven track record of building strong journalist relationships and landing top-tier UK and/or international coverage.
- Exceptional media handling skills, with a detailed knowledge of the news cycle across print, broadcast and online outlets. You can identify which outlets will reach our target audiences, turn any topic into a compelling pitch that makes journalists bite and package stories for print, broadcast or online news.
- Quality writing and editorial instincts to create high-quality copy, from crisp headlines to polished opinion articles and detailed press notes, with the ability to swiftly tailor messaging for different media markets.
- Confidence in tackling complex topics, spotting the media hook in a dense research report and turning it into a compelling story that journalists want to cover.
- Global perspective and political instincts, with hands-on experience navigating politically and culturally sensitive campaigns and issues. You understand how narratives land differently in international markets and can adapt accordingly.
- Ability to think ‘outside the box’, bringing original suggestions to tricky briefs, whether by reframing a narrative, finding a fresh hook, or pushing for a bolder approach.
- Excellent stakeholder management with a natural ability to build strong relationships with clients and external partners, and experience in managing diverse stakeholders.
- Strong account handling to drive progress on projects. You’re organised, calm under pressure and able to juggle multiple priorities while keeping quality high. You lead calls confidently, present ideas with clarity, and can offer smart counsel in the moment.
- A team player who can get the best out of working collaboratively with team members and use their skillsets, managing both up and down. You bring out the best in junior colleagues, helping shape strong outputs and sharing your knowledge generously.
- Commercial understanding of the need for projects to be not only well executed but also delivered within budget.
