Life at 89up has been pretty busy these last few weeks.
We’ve recently just moved into our brand new offices in Farringdon. The new office is just a stone’s throw away from our original home at the Free Word Centre, an international hub for organisations and journalists working to protect free expression.
In the decade since then, we have moved offices several times as our team has grown in size, and we are now settled at Warner Yard.
Our new building has a radical heritage - it was once home to the pioneering civil rights barristers Tooks Chambers. Tooks were involved in some of the most important UK legal battles in recent decades - including securing a private prosecution in the case of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, representing the families of the Hillsborough 71, overturning the wrongful conviction of the Birmingham Six, defending the Orgreave Miners and taking on McDonalds in the McLibel case.
The new office space also lets us continue in the tradition of the Free Word Centre, and act as a central hub for our clients and partners; a convening space where we can host informal roundtables, briefings, screenings and events, and providing desk space for international clients when visiting London.
And we’ve already received a lovely moving-in present! Last night we were named Specialist Consultancy of the Year at the PRWeek Awards, where we were described as “ambitious, principled and relentlessly impactful” and it was recognised that 89up “has never compromised its values for growth.”
As we settle into our new home, we hope to work with our partners and clients on many more award-winning campaigns, and continue in the proud tradition of the Free Word Centre and Tooks Chambers, bringing together ambitious, principled and relentlessly impactful organisations to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the world right now.
