About ASSEMBLE 2017

A day of training, ideas, collaboration and future insights on digital campaigning for civil society.

Assemble is a one-day conference in London to showcase the potential of digital campaigning and effective methods to maximise impact - from fundraising, to advocacy, to building public support for an issue. Right now, so much digital activism can be launched for free or at near zero setup costs creating huge impact for civil society groups.

A limited number of Assemble tickets are being provided free of charge to non-profits and charities thanks to the generosity of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. The day is organised and curated by 89up in collaboration with JRRT.

Jess Phillips MP
Jess Phillips is MP for Birmingham Yardley. Before being elected she was a manager at a charity supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence. She is an equalities campaigner, a mum and a community activist. Jess has dedicated her career to improving the lives of some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in society. Since being elected in 2015 Jess has also been a vocal campaigner for women's rights and equality in public life.

Padraig is a commentator and journalist with a decade’s experience of print and online media. He has significant experience in strategic communications both online and also for television and radio. He has written and ghostwritten for The Evening Standard, The Guardian, The Observer, The Irish Times, The Daily Telegraph, The New Statesman, and The Sun.

Caroline Criado-Perez
Caroline is a writer, broadcaster and award-winning feminist campaigner. She was the 2013 recipient of the Liberty Human Rights Campaigner of the Year award. Her achievements include getting a woman of merit on British banknotes in a campaign which has been replicated worldwide, and the campaign to build the first statue of a woman in Parliament Square. She is currently campaigns director at 89up
John Coventry
John is Head of UK Communications at GoFundMe, before that he was Managing Director of Global Comms at Charge.org. John is passionate about building powerful, engaging brands for companies building the technology that’s changing the world for the better. He has 15 years experience in public relations, digital communications, brand development and marketing for the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Eloise Todd
Eloise Todd is the CEO of Best for Britain, she led a hugely successful tactical voting initiative for GE 2017 and launched the UK's most successful political crowdfunder. She is on the Board of the Jo Cox Foundation, a registered charity that seeks to advance the causes that the late Labour MP championed. Eloise is also the former Executive Director of Global Policy at the ONE Campaign, an international, non-partisan and non-profit campaigning organisation dedicated to helping people who suffer from extreme poverty and preventable disease.
Katherine Sladden
Katherine is founder of WeHuddle, a support community for women who are building campaigns, and works as a
consultant for purpose-driven organisations including ONE and Virgin Unite. Previously Katherine was Campaigns Director at Change.org working on people-powered campaigns from ending FGM to saving the New Era housing estate. Katherine is passionate about making it possible for anyone to tell their story, build a movement and create change.

Sym is a developer and has worked in the open/government space for years. He runs Democracy Club partly by writing code and partly by working with others to build a community of organisations who want to work together.
Josh Feldburg
Josh is Head of Social at 89up and was formerly a consultant at Blue Rubicon. A digital communications and marketing specialist, he has worked for some of the world's biggest brands, agencies, government, and NGOs.
Yara Rodrigues Fowler
Yara Account Manager at 89up. She is a fiction writer and campaigner. She created the GE2017 Tinder Bot and is a trustee of Latin American Women's Aid.
Sarah Jane Rumford
Sarah Jane Rumford has nearly twenty years of PR experience developing and delivering hard-hitting campaigns for leading brands and innovative start ups.
Mike Harris
Mike is founder and CEO of 89up. He has nearly a decade's experience of government relations and strategic communications for business and charitable clients.
Sarah Vero
Sarah is creative change-maker with a strong background in policy, campaigns, press, PR, public affairs, communications, partnerships and people. Sarah is Account Director at 89up and was formerly Director of the the Living Wage Foundation. She is passionate about facilitating change and she also works as a workshop leader and performance artist.
